The risk of skin breakdown is reduced if the patient’s microclimate is controlled. The ‘Air-Layer’ reduces heat and vapour transfer rates between the patient and support surface, while the visco-elastic foam conforms to the body redistributing pressure. The Air-Layer reduces the risk of infection with welded seams and a concealed zip on the mattress cover. In addition, the mattress cover is water resistant, multi-stretch and vapour permeable.
